What’s in the Standards?
GLOBALG.A.P. requirements include food safety, trace-ability, environment, workers health and safe, animal welfare and crop management.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Certificate, also known as the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard (IFA), covers Good Agricultural Practices for agriculture, aquaculture, livestock and horticulture production. It also covers additional aspects of the food production and supply chain such as Chain of Custody and Compound Feed Manufacturing.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Fruit & Vegetables Standard covers all stages of production, from pre-harvest activities such as soil management and plant protection product application to post-harvest produce handling, packing and storing.
GLOBALG.A.P. Integrate Farm Assurance Fruit & Vegetables Standard has been successfully assessed against the GFSI Benchmarking.
The Combinable Crops Standard covers: Propagation Material, Machinery and Equipment, Crop Protection, Harvesting as well as Harvested Crop Handling.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Standard sets strict criteria for:
- Legal compliance
- Food safety
- Workers’ occupational health & safety
- GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP)
- Animal welfare
- Environmental and ecological care*
*The Standard has also been benchmarked against the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative’s Global Benchmark Tool Version 1 and are recognized by the GSSI Steering Board. A seafood certification scheme is recognized after successfully completing the 7-step Benchmark Process. The expert-led process involves objective assessments made against the Benchmark Framework
Integrate Farm Assurance Livestock-Ruminants Standard covers:
Cattle & Sheep: Identification and Traceability, Breeding and Young Stock, Feed, Forage, Housing and Facilities, Hygiene and Handling.
Dairy: Legal Registration, Feed, Housing and Facilities, Dairy Health, Milking, Milking Facilities, Hygiene, Cleaning Agents and Other Chemicals.
Calf & Young Beef covers: General Provisions, Identification and Traceability, Feed and Water, Housing and Facilities, Calves’ Health, Loading to dispatch for slaughter, Casualty Calves and Fallen Stock, Findings and Outdoor Calves.
Transparency throughout the supply chain guarantees the integrity of your product and reassures your customers. The GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody Standard is an essential certificate for all producers and retailers handling GLOBALG.A.P. certified products. It ensures that any product bearing a GLOBALG.A.P. label or sold as a GLOBALG.A.P. certified product is sourced from GLOBALG.A.P. certified farms.
The GLOBALG.A.P. CoC Standard identifies the status of your product throughout the entire process, from farm to retailer. It lays out strict requirements for handling certified products and the proper segregation of certified and non-certified produce in the processing operation units.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard gives you the level of transparency and integrity that provides added value to your product and brand in the market and added reassurance to your customers.
GLOBALG.A.P. Add-Ons
GRASP
Good Agricultural Practice is not just about products; it’s also about people. GRASP stands for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice and is developed to assess social practices on the farm, addressing specific aspects of workers’ health, safety and welfare.
GRASP helps producers establish a good social management system on their farms. It offers buyers added assurance. And it helps protect one of the farm’s most important resources: its people
Tesco NURTURE
Tesco NURTURE programme has become an additional NURTURE Module to the current GLOBALG.A.P. IFA Version 5 audit processes. This reduced audit duplication and increased flexibility for suppliers when choosing how they want their sites to be assessed. The NURTURE Module focuses on Plant Protection Product List (PPPL) management and the transition to GLOBALG.A.P. does not affect how suppliers manage their PPPLs.
SPRING – Sustainable Program for Irrigation and Groundwater Use
SPRING is a farm-level add-on which helps producers, retailers, and traders demonstrate their commitment to sustainable water management and can be implemented together with the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA standard for Crops. SPRING incorporates a wide range of criteria to assess sustainable water management on the farm. These include:
- Legal conformity of water sources and extraction rates
- Monitoring of water consumption
- Impact of producers on sustainable watershed management
- Best practices in water management
- Protection of water sources
- Measures to demonstrate continuous improvement of water management
Albert Heijn Protocole for Residues
Systematic verification through GLOBALG. A.P. A system for taking samples which vouches for compliance of the standards required. The cost of the system is met by suppliers and producers and they are jointly responsible for guaranteeing levels of residues.
GLOBALG.A.P. Plus
It is a set of requirements based on the McDonalds good practice regulation.
FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) PSR
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), signed into American law in January 2011, was the largest overhaul of the nation’s food safety laws in over 70 years in EEUU. These two proposed rules may significantly affect farmers and food processors, particularly small- and mid-size producers and processors. FSMA law can be audited as a GLOBALG.A:P. add-on.
